The Beginning
In the late 1980s, a group of forward-thinkers were convinced there was a better way to support
people with intellectual disabilities. They knew that everyone deserves the same things—
freedom, self-direction, meaningful relationships, and a place in the community. These
passionate change-agents set out to create a new support model that embraced these values.
